Course Overview¶
This course provides an in-depth exploration of advanced geospatial data management and analysis techniques, emphasizing the use of cutting-edge tools such as Google Earth Engine, geemap, leafmap, and DuckDB. Students will engage in hands-on learning to process, analyze, and visualize large-scale geospatial datasets, addressing real-world challenges in both socioeconomic and environmental contexts.
What You’ll Learn¶
Google Earth Engine & geemap: Develop proficiency in cloud-based geospatial analysis using Google Earth Engine, and utilize the geemap Python package for interactive mapping and data visualization.
leafmap: Learn to create interactive maps and perform geospatial analysis with the leafmap Python library, enabling seamless integration with various data sources.
DuckDB: Master the use of DuckDB, an in-process SQL OLAP database management system, to efficiently manage and analyze large geospatial datasets.
Advanced Spatial Analysis: Apply cloud computing and spatial analysis techniques to uncover patterns and insights within geospatial data.
By the end of the course, you will have a comprehensive understanding of modern geospatial tools and methodologies, empowering you to tackle complex spatial data challenges in diverse applications.
